tasmania’s west coast isn’t a place you pass through — it’s a destination that asks something of you. the drive alone tells you that. long roads curling through rainforest, weather rolling in fast and low, towns stitched tight into the landscape.

the central highlands sit between wind-polished plains and the rustle of alpine shrubs, holding stories in the quiet of open sky and water.

Coffee in hand from the Lock Shop Café, I wandered the main street. Hand-painted signage. Weathered textures. A town that wears its pace with pride.

The last week of the blueberry season is something of a hidden pocket — quiet, a little unrushed, and filled with a certain sweetness. Our annual visit to a family-run agritourism orchard in the Dorset region, where fruit still hung heavy on the bushes and rosellas called from above.
